Made in Westfield

A new exhibit, highlighting over 300 years of the city’s history, has opened up at the Jasper Rand Art Museum at the Westfield Athenaeum. Among the many contributors to this exhibit was Jarvis Surgical.

Jarvis Surgical’s manufacturing pedigree can be traced all the way back to 1901, when Charles L. Jarvis began producing nutcrackers and nutpicks near the Connecticut River in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1993, Charles’ grandson, Wal, opened Jarvis Surgical in its current location in Westfield, Massachusetts. Now, over 100 years later, the legacy of manufacturing excellence is being carried on by Charles’ great-grandson, Clayton Jarvis.

Westfield is proud of its rich and storied history and of its involvement in and commitment to the development of both manufacturing technology and the community. The exhibition ended on April 30th, but the spirit of entrepreneurship that inspired it lives on in the people and companies that make up Westfield.

Excelsior!
